-
Don’t use food for comfort. When you feel emotional, write
in a journal or go for a walk.
-
Don’t be impatient. Results will come with time.
-
Take some time out for yourself (and not just when you’re
stressed).
-
Make sure you don’t skip meals, particularly breakfast.
-
Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.
-
If you know you shouldn’t eat it, then don’t buy it.
-
Take fresh fruit and/or vegetables to snack on at work.
-
Plan your meals.
-
Try to nearly always eat home cooked meals (which are
generally much healthier) rather than take away or at
restaurants.
-
Have consistent meal times.
-
Find the time to exercise, even if it’s only for half an
hour.
-
Don’t over eat.
-
Don’t expect immediate or unrealistic results. Be patient.
-
Concentrate on your health and weight loss. Make it your
number one priority.
-
Be confident about your weight loss potential.
-
Set up or join a support group or network.
-
Try to eat more during the day, and less at night time when
you are the least active.
-
Don’t worry what everybody else at the gym looks like.
They’re not looking at you, and are busy concentrating on
their workout.
-
Don’t let yourself slip and eat bad foods when no one is
around to see you.
-
If you do slip, don’t punish yourself over it. Just be more
determined not to do it again.
-
Just because you may not consider yourself an ‘athletic’
type of person, doesn’t mean you can’t exercise or aren’t
entitled to.
-
Just get out there and have a go. Don’t spend more time
thinking about exercise than actually doing it. It will only
frustrate you.
-
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
-
Be prepared to share your feelings and how you’re coping
with those close to you.
-
If you prefer routine, make a plan and stick to it. If you
are easily bored, make sure you do a variety of different
exercises.
-
Don’t lose hope. Just because you may have been unsuccessful
on previous diets doesn’t mean you’re doomed to fail. Any
one can lose weight, it just takes planning, patience and
persistence.
-
Don’t snack if you’re not hungry.
-
Sit down and make realistic weight goals. If you’re not sure
where to begin, go visit your local gym and talk to a
fitness trainer.
-
Do your very best not to miss a work out. Keep extra gym
clothes in your car so that you have no excuse.
-
Don’t listen to any self negative talk. If you want to lose
weight, you can and will.
